As seen on the blog: Here be Dragons, Chapter II : Hello Granny (gear), The roads have gone pots.
We arrived around 1700 after a long day cycling in the wet, wet as a wet thing, to find this beautiful site. The reception empty and we were not sure what to do. A fellow camper told us to look out for a white 4×4 or just do as they did put the money in the honesty box. We filled in our details and left an envelope with our money in the box and went out searching for a pitch.
We were in the showers 20 min later, the joy of a tent with colour coded poles etc ;). The shower and toilet were …

After booking via email and was told that it was ok to arrive late on a bank holiday weekend. We were met with a grumpy reception, moaning that it was a bank holiday.
We managed to find a spot without ankle deep mud in the dark and pitched our tent.
The facilities were basic and a bit run down. There was a wc and a shower in the mens and ladies. And two sinks outside for washing your dishes with running hot water. Just what you needed. We didn’t try out the showers but looked like they would do the job.

We woke up to find a nice view over the river, which we had heard in the dark. The site was a bit of mud field, but when dry this place …

Campsite review of Woodlands Caravan Park, Devils Bridge, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, SY23 3JW, Wales, UK

Description: The Woodlands is a well established, family run caravan park set amidst some of the most beautiful scenery Mid Wales has to offer. It is situated in Devils Bridge, a small village nestling at the top of the Rheidol Valley, 12 miles inland from the coastal town of Aberystwyth. It is an ideal base for touring Mid Wales, walking, cycling, mountain biking, birdwatching, fishing or just relaxing and taking in the fresh air.
Site visited: 28th of August 2009.

As seen on the blog: Here be Dragons, Chapter II : Hello Granny (gear).
Arrived to a manicured place that looked more than a static mobile home place than a campsite. Big scupltures of horses, deer and bulls were scattered all over and even a bicycle in the tree.
The site also has a little shop for your basics. The shop is also a cafe which on Fridays, and other days during the season, serves a take away menu.
The very friendly staff recommended the cheesy lasagne at the Hadfod Hotel just over the Devils Bridge. Which was very yumyum and worth the one hour wait, since we arrived an hour before the kitchen opened. Peli had veggie Bangers and mash which was also good.

It …

Campsite review of Cliff House Holiday Park, Dunwich, Suffollk, IP17 3DQ

Description: (From their site) Lodges, Caravans, Touring, Camping and Self Catering accommodation, we have something for all. Situated in the County of Suffolk we are nestled between the seaside Towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh.
Site visited: 5th of July 2009.

As seen on the blog: Meet my little tank – Surly Long Haul Trucker 2009
As part of the Dunwich Dynamo, we were looking for a campsite very close to the beach were the 116 miles ride from London would end up. After the ride (with 1000+ others) and a dip in the sea in Dunwich, we cycled the one and a bit mile over to Cliff House Holiday Park.
Too bad that we were only staying one night and were very tired, so we didn’t get to enjoy this realy beautiful site.

We enjoyed a brilliant pub lunch/dinner in the pub in central building of the site, where also the mini shop is located. I picked one of the signature dishes of English pubs: bangers and mash and Peli had the mixed beans and veggies casserole.
The chef hit my stomach with some home made (I’m sure) Suffolk bangers and mash that was made just as I like it. New potatoes, boiled …

Campsite review of Mellow Farm Adventure, Dockenfield, Farnham, Surrey, GU10 4HH

Description: (From their site) Mellow Farm is a small, family farm of 110 hectares on the beautiful Hampshire-Surrey border and is centred on the River Wey. It is set on sandy heathland and is either grassland or small wooded areas.
Site visited: 25th of April 2009.

As seen on the blog: In search of a cup of TEA, Part II
Arriving at the Mellow Farm Adventure camp site (their red site) we saw a big field with five other campers plotted about. We were greeted by the proprietor of the site(s) and were shown to our pitch. Which was very easy, anywhere where the grass had been cut.
The red site is part of a few others on the farm, this one you are allowed to have a fire and there are clean portaloos and one tap with running water.

We didn’t have a fire, but did enjoy others that had, and could hear them talking well into the night.
Mellow Farm is a working farm so you can get nice and personal with the animals.

Campsite review of The Deers Hut, Griggs Green, Longmoor Road, Liphook Hampshire, GU30 7PD

Description: (From their site) Originally built as a Queen Anne Hunting Lodge in the 1600′s, set in five acres of scenic grounds. Close to many local attractions such as Weavers Down, a protected area of scientific interest, where there are many excellent walks.
Site visited: 24th of April 2009.

As seen on the blog: In search of a cup of TEA, Part I and Part II
After short ride out of Liphook we arrived in the dark at the Deer Hut pub, which has a little camp site attached.
As we were parking up at the pub a gentleman stepped out of the pub for a smoke. Had one look at us said “You camping?” “Yes please,” we said.
“I might not look it, but I am the owner” he said with a smile as he showed us to our spot.
Eleven other groups were already there but we got a side paddock all for ourselves separated from the others by a tall hedge.

The site has a toilet, one for the ladies and one for the gents and one 20p hot shower. Pretty much all you need when camping next to a pub. A little noise from the A3 and Gatwick, I think, but …

Chertsey Camping And Caravanning Club Site, Bridge Road, Chertsey, Surrey, KT16 8JX

Description: (From their site) This lovely, riverside site is to the south west of London. A train ride away from the capital, it has a rural feel and is visited by foxes, squirrels and many river birds. Canoes can launch from the Site, which regularly hosts events by the Canoe-Camping Club.
Site visited: 28th of March 2009.

As seen on the blog: Just one night
We managed to arrive with enough light to pitch while fighting off mossies, oh the joy of camping.
We went to the pub next door to kill some time before bed time. The said pub took a bit of time to find since we couldn’t find our way out of the campsite. Because we where paying more attention to the beautiful full moon over the river and all the caravans on the site than the route to the pub.
We woke up around 5am, who ever coined the phrase “the countryside is quiet and peaceful” has clearly never been in the countryside. Though it was nice to hear the sound of birds we managed to get a few more hours in. The nearby M3 and Heathrow can be heard, but living in London, this is not the biggest issue.
We arrived …

Been a while since I visited this site, and I now understand that it have changed owners since.
I do hope that the site is still as good as it was, very clean toilets, beautiful kept camp site and the friendly staff was tip top.
There was a little shop, where you could get your basic. On two of its sides there is road, but the were very quite when we where there so no problems with sleeping.
