A final review of the Lake I/O SDL

Well not really, since I will go back to them any time. I got the Lake I/O SDL last year in May simply because I could get them where as As you can see they are well worn down from all the walking. Though last month I did feel a difference in the sandal in how they were clipped in and I was at first worried that it was my new eggbeaters falling apart on me again. I checked the pedals and found them ok, then I checked the cleats only find a crack in the sole of the sandals, just below the cleat.
Both sandals have the crack but it is the left sandal that has the biggest crack. Probably because I clip in and out with that foot much more than the right on my daily commute.
I have used them throughout the winter with a pair of winter socks and some over shoes and they have been warm enough down to a -5c. The soles are much more insulating that the Shimano shoes I had the winter before, as I wasn’t frozen in them as I was when walking/standing on cold pavement as I was in the Shimano’s.
The only …

Lake I/O SDL

I have now used these since May and love them.
I wear them pretty much all day both cycling and walking in them. Since the cleats are set back in the shoe and the way that sole is made. I haven’t worn down the cleats yet, like I did with my Shimano MT40.
They are still nice and warm, with a pair of socks, yeah I have gone totally English on ya. But if I don’t I sweat too much in them. What I like a lot is that they dry fast, though the smell a bit :)
Though as you can see on the image where I have put a red circle, they are starting to break. The seam and the leather is breaking, though are still holding strong.

… the Lake I/O SDL?
They have now been tested in the rain and on long distances, even the DunRun a ride of 135 miles in one go.
I have had these shoes for well over a month now, and I still really enjoy riding in them. Have walked quite a lot and done over 700 miles with them on.
They sit very nicely on my feet even when climbing a steep hill. Very comfy to wear all day and walk around in.
Though the only problem is that I have to wear socks, because they don’t breath that well even being sandals. I got some Keen (none cycling sandals) and they breath very well, even in very hot weather. But the Lake’s are a lake shortly after I put them if it is even mildly warm.
Still a good buy, and highly recommend.

… and new cleats.
I got a par of Lake I/O‘s a couple of days ago. Haven’t had much time to to try them out yet but they look and feel very good.Good for summer riding, well they say it is going to be a scorchio summer over here this year.
They are light and air flow nicely trough them when you are riding, but when standing still or walking they are as warm as normal shoes (ok London have been blessed with great weather the last few days). The are very comfy to walk in and the cleat is recessed far enough into the shoe so you are not tap dancing when walking on hard surfaces.
I got “picky” knees and if I do not have the right shoe on they will tell me and I have heard nothing from them, so they are good for me. Now I have to see how long they last before they wear down.
I haven’t ridden in them for a long distance or up very steep hills yet, but they do feel like they will stay on your foot when you are pulling hard in the pedals.
The cleats took some time to get …
