Campsite review of Camp Galeb, 21310 Omis, Split, Croatia
Tags: camping, Cycle Touring, Cycling in Croatia, review
Description: (From their site) Impressive poplars, birches, limes and tamarisk trees provide natural shade and shelter for camping plots and pitches, making the stay in our camp pleasant even in hot summer months. Even the farthest pitches are no more than 500 m away from the sea and the beautiful sandy beach.
Site visited: 12th of September 2009.
As seen on the blog: Croatia day 4 : bit drafty
Camp Caleb is just outside the lovely little town of Omis, that is if you wander around the old part, on the coast with beautiful sandy beach front.
The reception block which looks like any 4 star hotel reception holds the campsites “supermarket”, souvenir shop, 4 computers to surf the net on and have free wifi too. And right next to the reception was there a little bakery outlet, which sells some yummy chocolate dough nuts and a restaurant which by the look of things looked like you could rent for your weddings. The one toilet block we used looked like Walmart had gone into making campsites e.g. massive and there were two other blocks on the site.
The site also holds another restaurant and bar where I take it is where the mini disco an other soirées will be held in the high seasons. The campsite have static mobile homes and static caravans and tents for you to rent. There is also access to tennis courts, basket ball courts, a five a side football area and above all swings in the play ground ;)
And then there is the sandy beach, by Croatian standards, which is directly accessible from the site. The beach is nice and shallow so therefor child friendly. And also from the beach you have a view over to Omis and the canyon and valley created by the river Cetina.
I have been to a few campsite but this is the first one that I have seen with a dog shower of all things!

Even with us picking the cheap seats, so to speak, we found the site too expensive for what we needed. And also way too big which made us happy that we were not there in high season when it will be more expensive and packed full.
